Key Takeaways:
- The favorite tequila was the Black Barrel due to its similarity to whiskey and bourbon.
- Guests were extremely inquisitive and asked engaging questions which drove conversation throughout the event.
- The aromatics were also a great hit and inspired healthy competition among the group.
- Overall, the event helped give local accounts more awareness of the different products Hornitos offers as well as their availability.
This was amazing! I’ve never done a blind tasting but I can promise you this will not be my last!
I’m pleasantly surprised by the level of involvement that Hornitos has with the local bartending community.
After this event, I definitely want to get more involved with the Hornitos Portfolio Program.
Learnings & Opportunities:
School will continue to urge accounts to pre-batch cocktails. While the drinks were intricate and highly praised, timing for the cocktail turnaround were a little slow because each cocktail was being made by hand.
The activation was a bit challenged as there was no dedicated serving serving staff from the account which delayed food delivery, clearing and other tasting components so activation staff has to jump in. School will continue to confirm dedicated account staff during planning calls with field teams.
The event was upstairs, thus leaving guests to ask staff around the venue where they needed to go to participate in the tasting. By having a dedicated person greeting guests, handing them a cocktail and pointing them in the direction of the event we can help eliminate guest confusion in the future and expedite getting them in their seats to begin the tasting.
